Description
Mooracre House is a detached dwelling dating to around 1840, originally identified on the Ordnance Survey map as The Moors. The main block is constructed of squared and coursed stone with a double Roman tile roof to the box eaves, and a Welsh slate roof with parapet. A lower wing extends to the right, and a late 20th-century garage with a matching parapet sits to the left. The house is three storeys high with a basement, and features a two-window front. The first and second floors have sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor incorporates later 19th-century canted bays; the central bay has two blank panels with permanent shutters covering former window openings. A tall arched sash window with glazing bars is located at the rear, serving the staircase. The central entrance is a four-panel door, partly glazed, set within a stone Tuscan porch with a heavy entablature.
The interior includes a stone staircase with a swept mahogany handrail and cast iron balustrade, and numerous good-quality four-panel doors within architraves.
