Description
The building is a former stable and coach house, now part of the public house known as the Crown and Anchor. It dates from the late 18th century, with a 19th-century addition at the rear. The structure is made of coursed rubble limestone with ashlar dressings and has an asbestos slate roof. The rear outshut is constructed of brick. The coach house features a loft above.
The front of the building has a central segmental arched coachway with plank doors, flanked by round-arched openings that are partly blocked to create lunettes. There is a central upper floor segmental arched recess, also flanked by blocked lunettes. At the north end, there is a brick segmental arched loft opening with brick vented infill. The rear has a catslide roof over the outshut, with timber lintels supporting 19th-century timber casements. The interior has not been inspected. This building is connected to the Crown and Anchor Hotel, which is not considered of special interest.
