Description

Tudor House is a former detached house, now used as offices, dating from the early to mid-17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. The building features timber framing with rendered infill, random rubble limestone, and significant brick patching, all painted. It has an asbestos slate roof and is a single-storey structure with an attic.

The front of the house has a gable end with square framing set on a rendered plinth. There is a central ground floor 4-light timber casement window with pointed heads, and above it, there is a leaded casement window. On the south side, the central gable is made of random rubble and features an off-centre doorway with a timber lintel and a small fixed light above. To the left, there is a blocked former stair light at mid-height, and the gable-mounted chimney has been removed. The side of the front wing to the right shows square framing. The rear wing to the left is constructed of brick with stone quoins, featuring an off-centre ground floor casement window with a brick flat arch and two flat-roofed dormers mounted on the eaves.

On the north side, there is a small framed gable at the centre with short diagonal bracing, and a rendered gable with a leaded casement window. Some internal alterations have occurred, but the structure appears largely intact. An early photograph of the building can be found in J.H.A. Anderson's work, "Stonehouse: A Pot-pourri of the Past in Pictures."
