Description
The stable and cartsheds, located approximately 150 meters southwest of Leonard Stanley House, date from the early 19th century with later additions from the 19th century. They are constructed from coursed rubble and ashlar limestone, red brick, and feature roofs made of stone slate and corrugated iron. The building is arranged in an L-shape around a yard.
On the south side, the earlier stable on the right has an altered central doorway flanked by lunettes with iron grilles and rusticated architraves, with a loft door above the left lunette. There is an additional doorway to the left with a plank door. To the left, an ashlar-fronted addition features a central sliding door, also flanked by lunettes, with a corrugated-iron roof covering the single-storey section.
The cartshed extends at a right angle from the right end of the stable range and consists of five bays, four of which are supported by circular stone piers, with an enclosed bay at the south end. Various attached outbuildings on the north side are not considered of special interest.
