Description

Cornelius Harris and two unidentified tombs are located approximately 18 to 22 meters due south of the porch door at the Church of St Giles.

The first tomb is a pedestal tomb from the mid to late 18th century, made of sandstone. It has a square plan with reserved corners, a moulded top, a cavetto base, and raised ellipses on the east and west sides, along with raised elliptical panels featuring a moulded edge and a crown of branches on the north and south sides. The inscriptions are not legible, and it was formerly surrounded by a railing. This tomb is situated adjacent to the path leading to the south porch.

The second tomb is also a pedestal tomb, dating from the 18th century, constructed from limestone. It features a square shape with reserved corners, a concave-sided pyramidal top that lacks a crown, a roll mould, and a moulded top. It has fielded and moulded panels on three sides and an arched moulded panel on the south side. The inscriptions are not legible, and at the time of the survey, the tomb was partially sunk into the ground and showing signs of deterioration.

The third tomb is a chest tomb from the late 18th century, made of sandstone. It has a moulded top and a part-sunk cavetto base, with a frieze and base at the ends featuring circular panels and elliptical raised designs on the north and south sides, all adorned with draped garlands. This tomb is marked with the name CORNELIUS HARRIS, dated 1776, and is the southernmost of the three.
