Description

Glendower is a late 18th century to early 19th century building that was extended to the left in the mid-19th century and to the right in the 20th century. It is two storeys high and constructed of Cotswold rubble, except for the rendered part added in the 20th century. The building features a stone tile roof with four brick chimneys. On the first floor, there are four windows, and on the ground floor, there are three windows, with casements except for a sash window in the 20th century section. The building has two doors; the left-hand door is segment-headed and half-glazed, while the central door is flush panelled and has a modern bracketed flat hood. The ground floor of the 20th century section includes a wooden partition and door. There are low mid-19th century railings along the road, designed in an arrow head style with urn standards. To the right of the door, there is a tablet inscribed with "W H Davis, Poet, Born at Newport, Mon 1871, Died in this house 1940. What is this life if full of care. We have no time to stand and stare."
