Description

The lodge and gateway, located approximately 200 meters west of Miserden Park, date back to 1864 and are possibly designed by Alfred Waterhouse. The lodge is constructed from coursed rock-faced rubble limestone, featuring ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. It is a single-storey building with an attic and has an additional wing to the east, forming an L-shape. The gateway is situated to the north.

The north gable end of the lodge extends to the left over a pointed arched porch with a catslide roof, which has decorative barge boards. There is a canted oriel window with a moulded base and a coped top. The west side has a full gable with similar barge boards and two-light shouldered arched casements on each floor below. A tall eaves-mounted chimney with a diagonal shaft is located to the left. On the south side, there is a large central projecting chimney, and a doorway that is now blocked by a casement. Above this, a small pointed window on the upper floor features a carved coat-of-arms.

To the east, there is a flat-roofed single-storey addition to the lodge that matches the original style. The gateway consists of two square piers with moulded cornice tops and ball finials, along with smaller flanking piers that also have ball finials. These are connected to the main piers by a short length of railed screen, and the gates feature a horizontal scroll band with a rich overthrow.
