Description

Tower House, formerly known as Round House (The Tower Cottage), is a former wool drying house dating from the early 19th century or earlier. It is constructed of squared dressed limestone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a cylindrical shape topped with a conical roof and stone capping.

On the side facing the house, which is not of special interest, there is a pointed arch doorway with a plank door beneath squat paired pointed lights. To the left and right of the door, there are similar small pointed openings, and at eaves level above these openings, there are additional similar openings fitted with wood ventilating louvres. The roof structure was added in the 20th century. Tower House is a good example of a type of structure that was once more common in the area.
