Description
Nos. 80 and 80A on Eastgate Street in Gloucester is a shop and former dwelling dating from the late 18th century, with alterations from the late 19th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a slate roof with hipped dormers. It has a double-depth block design and stands two storeys tall with an attic. The exterior includes a brick dentil eaves cornice.
On the ground floor, there is a late 19th-century shop front set within a plain timber surround, which has a central doorway. To the left of the shop front, there is an arched doorway that leads to a former side passage, now infilled with a late 19th-century timber frame that supports a glazed panel door along with side and top lights. The first floor has two plain sash windows set in openings with rubbed brick flat-arched heads. The roof dormers each contain a pair of casements with single horizontal glazing bars.
Although the interior has not been inspected, this building makes a significant contribution to the streetscape in the historic core of Gloucester.
