Description
The Horlick Monument is a pedestal monument located in the churchyard about 5 meters east of the south-east corner of the chancel at the Church of St. John the Baptist. It was created for the Horlick family in 1806 and is made of stone. The monument features a moulded edge on the lid and a square, flat cyma dome on top. The sides are adorned with a vertical leaf frieze and raised oval panels, with oval paterae in the corners. The corners are accentuated by elongated quarter-square balusters that have leaf carvings on their bulbous sections. The plinth has a moulded top and rests on a square stone base at ground level. The inscriptions on the monument date from 1806 to 1841, commemorating Ann Horlick, the wife, and Peter Horlick, the husband.
