Description
Spring Cottage is a dwelling, which was also used as a brew-house at one time. It is dated 1700, although some parts may date back to the 17th century. The building is constructed of rendered rubble with a concrete tile roof and has gable brick stacks. It has a T-plan layout with a symmetrical front and a projecting stair turret that is partly built into the hill slope. The cottage is two storeys high and features three windows, including two 17th-century cross casements and a small central two-light casement above a three-light casement and one small casement. There is a central plank door in a chamfered opening, which has a painted inscription '17 MHOO' in a later porch. Inside, there is a small tight spiral stair in the turret at the back, as well as remnants of a stair by a later fireplace on the ground floor to the left. Some stone floors are present, and the original roof structure remains intact. In the right gable, there are two blocked stone lights that have been rendered over. The property is situated right up to the edge of the road.
