Description
The Moravian Chapel, built in 1832, is a long narrow building located in Hewelsfield Brockweir. It features a smooth rendered exterior over a painted rubble plinth and has a concrete tile roof with an un-rendered bell-cote at the north end. The entrance is situated on the south side and includes a pair of early 20th century doors with Art Nouveau glazing, accessed by four steps leading up to a gabled porch with a stopped drip over an elliptical opening, complemented by a small louvred lancet above. The river-facing side of the chapel has four lancet windows with stopped drips, while the opposite side has three similar windows. The interior was significantly modified in 1902, showcasing good Art Nouveau joinery, including a gallery at the entrance end and new windows. This chapel, along with the former Manse, forms an impressive group situated immediately beside and parallel to the River Wye.
