Description
Danby Lodge is a former forest lodge that has been converted into a private house. It dates from the late 17th century and is constructed of squared rubblestone with a slate roof and two end stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and features a single range design, including two rear adjoining projecting gables. At the front, there is a two-storey hipped porch, and to the right, a lower wing with a 20th-century flat-roofed extension at the back. The house has two windows, which are three-light wooden casements, along with a two-light casement window in the central porch. Large stone lintels are present above the similar windows on the ground floor. There are also two gabled dormers. The porch contains a 20th-century door. Despite its restoration, Danby Lodge remains a good and largely unspoilt early example of a forest lodge.
