Description
Robwood is a small house built in 1848 for the National Co-operative Land Company by F. O'Connor. It features Flemish bond brickwork on a chamfered stone plinth and has a slate roof. The front of the house has three bays, with a central section that projects slightly and a gable above. There is a gabled porch in the center with half-glazed walls over a brick sill, a half-glazed late 20th-century door leading outside, and a fully glazed door leading into the house. On either side of the porch are tall single-light windows with painted rubbed brick arches. The wings of the house have 20th-century two-light mullion and transom windows, also with painted rubbed brick arches. There are brick chimneys on each end gable and one in the center of the rear. The house was originally set on a 2-acre plot and is listed mainly for its historical and sociological interest, as it forms a group with other Chartist cottages.
