Description
The Constance monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard between the porch and the south transept of the Church of All Saints. It dates from the second decade of the 19th century and is made of stone. The tomb has a rectangular center with projecting semi-circular ends that are slightly recessed from the sides. It features a moulded top with a raised center section that has a square edge, and cyma half domes at each end. The center has cavetto moulding leading to a square-domed section. The sides are raised oval with a carved rim, and there are horizontal oval paterae in the corners. The ends have a fluted frieze with alternating paterae, a horizontal oval in the center, and a moulded base, all resting on a plinth. The monument commemorates John Constance, who died in 1816, his wife who died in 1814, and includes other inscriptions, the latest dating to 1885.
