Description
The Shepard Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 12 meters southeast of the southeast corner of the south aisle of the Church of St. Mary. It commemorates Sarah Shepard, who died in 1777, and is made of stone. The tomb features a steeply weathered lid with a moulded edge and quarter-square corner balusters. The south side has a slightly raised panel adorned with leaf moulding and scalloped corners that include decorative carving. The north side has a panel outlined by a recessed line, with corners similar to those on the south side. The ends of the tomb are plain but also outlined with a recessed line, and it stands on a moulded base.
