Description
The Roston Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 8 meters south of the southeast corner of the tower of the Church of St. Mary. It commemorates Edward Roston, who died in 1731. The tomb is made of stone and features a flat lid with a moulded edge. It has quarter-square corner balusters and fielded panels with segmental ends on the sides, along with scrolling details in the corners. The ends of the tomb have fielded rectangular panels. The base has a chamfered top, and the inscription is well-executed with a mix of upper and lower case letters, including a long 's'.
