Description
Playley's Place is a small house located in Playley Green, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It features Flemish bond mottled brickwork and a slate roof. The building has one bay and two storeys, with a rear wing. The facade facing the road is framed by plain pilasters, with a third pilaster in the center that extends to the first floor, resting on a plain string course. Cambered, rubbed-brick arches connect the three pilasters just below the eaves.
On the ground floor, there is a six-panel door on the left, accessed by one step, which is sheltered by a gabled porch with trellis sides and framing at the ends, topped with a timber finial and covered by a corrugated-iron roof. To the right of the door is a sixteen-pane sash window with a rubbed brick arch above it. The first floor features two similar windows. The eaves have a flat soffit, and the roof is hipped at the front and gabled at the rear. An external chimney is located on the right return, and there is a two-light casement window with a cambered brick arch in the gable of the lean-to beyond. Additionally, there is a brick chimney at the rear, positioned to the left of the ridge. The lower two-storey section at the rear is the same width as the front.
