Description

Parkgate is a former farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages. The building features a 17th-century rear wing and an early 19th-century front, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. The front is constructed with Flemish-bond brickwork, while the rear showcases brick-nogged timber framing, all topped with tiled roofs.

The front elevation has three bays, while the rear has two bays, with both sections being one room deep and two stories high. The front faces the road and includes a large external chimney on the left side with two diamond-set flues above the ridge. On the left, there is a three-light casement window with a cambered brick arch above it. The boarded door is sheltered by a segmental corrugated-iron hood, with a wooden former and straight braces. To the right, there is another three-light casement window, also with a cambered brick arch.

On the first floor, there are two mid-20th-century three-light casements with flat heads. The chimney on the ridge is located one bay from the right and has four diamond-set flues. The right return features a brick gable on the left side, a half-glazed door accessed by steps, and a two-light casement window on the right. Above this, there are a two-light and a single-light casement, both mid-20th-century, under cambered brick arches.

The wall of the timber-framed section sets forward and consists of two panels high per floor. On the left, there is an old two-light casement, a mid-20th-century two-light casement, a half-glazed door, and another two-light casement, all beneath a continuous weatherboard on a bressumer. The first floor has three two-light casements, with the leftmost being mid-20th-century. An external chimney on the right return has two diamond-set flues.
