Description

Penny Cottage is a dwelling that dates back to the 16th or 17th century. It is constructed of rubble, with some timber framework visible on the north wall, and features an asbestos cement slate roof. The building has a steeply gabled roof facing the street and a large chimney at the far end, along with a lean-to addition on the left side. The street-facing side has three storeys and a single window, with 2-light casements. The far gable includes a stone mullioned triangular oriel window to the left of the chimney and a small fire window at the bottom right. There is a new door present. A date panel on the gable reads "RD 1678," although stylistic evidence suggests that the building may have an earlier origin.
