Description
The Symonds Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary, approximately 23 meters from the south chancel porch along the path. It commemorates Jonas Symonds, who died in 1830, and is made of stone. The tomb features a steeply weathered top with a brass plate inscribed in copperplate lettering. It has a moulded edge and quarter-square corner balusters, while the sides and ends are plain with a sunk line forming a margin, accented by scalloped corners with paterae. The moulded base adds to its design, and the monument also commemorates Jonas's wife, who died in 1813.
