Description
The dovecote, located approximately 400 meters north of Barrington Park, dates from the 18th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. It has a circular plan topped with a domed roof. On the east side, there is a low Ionic tetrastyle portico featuring a centrally placed single-width doorway and single-light windows positioned between the columns on either side. The structure also includes four segmental-headed dormers along the eaves and a lantern at the apex of the roof. The interior is not accessible, and the exterior has been described from the road. It is reputed to have been designed by William Kent. Originally, the dovecote had an external spiral staircase and a lead cupola, which were removed around 1920.
