Description
This is an accommodation bridge located approximately 110 meters south of Kemble Station, built in 1840 to a design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The bridge spans the Cheltenham and Great Western Union Railway and is constructed from local limestone.
The bridge features an elliptical arch made of dressed, coursed limestone. It has a projecting plinth and a string course above the arch opening. The abutments are supported by wide, shallow buttresses that are splayed to facilitate access over the bridge. The parapet is topped with flat coping stones.
