Description
The John Chadwell monument and an unidentified monument are located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Paul, approximately 1 metre south of the porch. The two monuments are chest tombs. The tomb closest to the porch is unidentified and is likely from the 16th century. The tomb dedicated to John Chadwell, which includes a partially legible inscription with the date 1577, is made of limestone. Both tombs share the same footing and feature moulded plinths along with thick capping stones that have moulded margins. The John Chadwell tomb has a depth of two courses, while the unidentified tomb has a depth of one course. The unidentified tomb is identical to another tomb located on the opposite side of the path. These tombs are notable for their unusually early date.
