Description

Bradways Close is a detached house located in Hampnett Village, dated and initialled S.T.E 1799 on a diamond-shaped datestone at the apex of the right gable end, with 19th-century alterations. The house is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks, one of which was rebuilt in the 20th century using some original ashlar blocks.

The main body of the house is rectangular, with two storeys and an attic, and includes an 'L'-shaped 19th-century extension at the rear. The facade has three windows, with three 3-light stone-mullioned casements on the first floor, all featuring stopped hoods and glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is a three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement on the left with an 8-pane sash as the central light, and a four-light canted bay window on the far right, which has stone mullions and transoms, glazing bars, and a flat leaded roof.

The central entrance features a glazed 20th-century door set within a flat-chamfered surround and a flat stone canopy with a moulded margin. There is a cellar located under the left end of the main body. The right gable end has a two-light metal casement with a timber lintel and two single-light windows. The 19th-century extension includes a 20th-century canted bay window and a brick lean-to on the ground floor left. A part-glazed 20th-century door is set within a shallow cast-iron porch on the right side. A 20th-century wooden scallop shell overmantle is positioned above the porch. The former open-fronted store has had its openings blocked on the right side. The roof features gable end stacks and flat gable end coping on the main body, with an axial stack on the extension. The interior has not been inspected.
