Description
Nos 76 and 77 are a pair of semi-detached cottages from the 19th century, constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks, one of which has been replaced in the 20th century. The cottages have a rectangular main body with contemporary extensions at right angles at the rear. The facade is 1½ storeys high and features three half dormers that light the first floor. The central dormer has two single-light metal casements, while the dormers on the right and left have two-light stone-mullioned casements. Most of the casements have horizontal glazing bars, with a few retaining what are likely the original glazing bars. Access is provided through a 20th-century glazed door in the gable end, as well as similar glazed or part-glazed doors to the extensions at the rear. There are gable end stacks. The interiors have not been inspected. This building is a relatively unaltered example of a late Cotswold-style house type, situated in a prominent position within the village landscape.
