Description
A pair of monuments is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Andrew, approximately 8 meters east of the chancel. The first is a chest tomb dedicated to Charles Turk of Coln St Dennis, who died on November 30th, 1831, and his daughter Elizabeth, who died in 1803. This tomb is made of limestone and features an inscription to Charles Turk on the south side, with quadrant corners and fluted marginal panels. The capping includes a moulded margin and a hipped upper capping stone, which has stepped and moulded elements along with a roll-moulded and gadrooned ridge. The second monument is a ledger located about 0.7 meters to the north of the chest tomb, commemorating Mary Court, who died in 1782, and Thomas Court, who died in 1805. This ledger has a cast iron inscription in raised lettering and is noted for its very unusual form and good lettering.
