Description
The Hobbits is a house, likely originally two cottages, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone and features an artificial stone slate roof with an ashlar stack and a 20th-century stone stack. The main structure is rectangular and extends by one bay to the right, with a cottage attached at an angle to the left.
The main body has two storeys and a three-windowed facade. The ground floor includes two 2-light stone-mullioned casements, while the upper floor has two similar windows and a 2-light metal casement, all with leaded panes. There is a 20th-century part-glazed door at the center, set within a 20th-century gabled open-sided porch, and another 20th-century part-glazed door to the right-hand bay.
The attached cottage on the left is 1.5 storeys high and has two 20th-century two-light casements on the ground floor and two gabled half dormers on the first floor, all featuring leaded panes. It also has similar window designs and a 20th-century porch with a hipped roof at the rear. The interiors have not been inspected.
