Description

The Old Forge is a detached cottage dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring a concrete tile roof and ashlar stacks on the main body. The successive outbuildings to the right have stone slate and corrugated iron roofing, with a single-storey outbuilding to the left that has a corrugated iron roof, which is not of special interest.

The main facade is two storeys high with an attic, illuminated by single lights in the gable ends. It has a central 20th-century part-glazed door with glazing bars, and the two-windowed facade is lit by double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with horizontal glazing bars. The rear wall of the main body contains 20th-century casements.

To the right of the main body is the Old Forge, which is a single-storey structure featuring a plank door on the left and fixed casements with 12 panes and 15 panes. The gable ends of the main body have stacks with moulded cappings.
