Description

The Old School House is a former school room and school house, dating to the 19th century, with 20th-century additions at the rear. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a buttress on the right of the left wing. The roof is covered in limestone slate with flat coping to the gables. The building follows a 'U' shape, with the former school room projecting forward to the left and the school house projecting forward to the right. It is two storeys high, with the upper storey lit by hipped, late 19th/early 20th-century dormers and Cotswold dormers across the eaves. The windows are primarily 2-light designs with leaded panes, along with 19th-century flat-chamfered stone mullioned casements of 1, 2 and 3-lights, each with stopped hoods. The central front door features a blind, 4-centred arch and a stopped hood, and is fitted with an unpainted plank door, decorative strap hinges and a ring knocker.
