Description

Upper Wall Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed from coursed, squared, and dressed limestone, topped with a limestone slate roof that features flat coping on the left gable end. The main body of the house is built from ashlar and has a left gable-end stack. To the right, there is a later extension, also with an ashlar left gable end stack, and a right gable end stack on the kitchen, which is attached to the front right of the extension. The main body dates back to the early 17th century, while the lower extension was added later in the 17th century.

The farmhouse is a single storey and includes a Cotswold dormer on the left and a dormer with a sloping roof on the right. It features three and four-light stone mullioned windows with horizontal glazing bars and stopped hoods. The right extension has a gabled two-light dormer. There is a single storey 20th-century entrance corridor that connects the right-hand extension to a formerly separate building, now used as a kitchen, which runs parallel to the extension. This separate building, which has a garret window and a four-light stone mullioned window, was previously used for the preparation of cattle feed. The farm buildings with a red tiled roof attached to the right of the farmhouse are not of special interest.
