Description

A cottage dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, originally known as Glebe House and shown on a 1:2500 Ordnance Survey map. Part of the wall was rebuilt in the 20th century. The house is visible from the gable end away from the road, constructed of coursed limestone rubble with rectangular ashlar stacks, one with a moulded top extending from the gable to the road, and a second ashlar stack with a moulded top and skirting towards the described gable end. It has a limestone slate roof. The house features a cross passage running from left to right, and a stable extension to the right of the facade. It is one storey with an attic lit by 19th and 20th century dormers. A 4-light, hollow-chamfered stone mullioned window with a central king mullion and metal casements with glazing bars is present, along with a 2-light, hollow-chamfered window above, featuring rounded heads to the lights and carved out spandrels, all with leaded panes; one light retains some original window glass. A single light is positioned above. A flat, chamfered 4-centred arched doorway has an original, unpainted plank door fitted with strap hinges on the lower right.
