Description
The Kilmister Monument is a chest tomb located about 21 metres south-east of the south-east corner of the south chapel in the churchyard of the Church of St. Peter. It commemorates the Kilmister family, with the earliest readable inscription dedicated to William, who died in 1856. The tomb is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth on a large base that extends to the south, topped with a projecting two-step tent shape. The ends of the tomb are designed in a lyre shape, and both the sides and ends are adorned with oval panels that have applied engraved bronze inscription panels.
