Description
The gates and gate piers adjacent to the lodge at the north entrance to Sandywell Park date from the 18th century. They are constructed from ashlar and feature wrought and cast-iron gates. The square piers have moulded cappings and large gadrooned urn finials, which flank double cast-iron gates adorned with some wrought-iron decoration. An ornate overthrow showcases fine foliate wrought-ironwork that incorporates a cornucopia. These gates and gate piers are designed to match those at the west and south entrances to Sandywell Park. The north gateway was relocated to its current position in the mid-20th century.
