Description
This stable, located about 4 meters east of the barn at Upper Farmhouse, dates back to 1828, as indicated on the gable end facing the road. It is constructed from random, roughly squared and dressed limestone, featuring dressed stone quoins and a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan, which extends partly to form a lean-to on the south side.
On the south front, there are stone steps leading up to a central plank door with a raking roof, and a similar plank door is located below the landing. To the left of the steps, there is a 20th-century top-opening metal casement window with glazing bars in the lean-to. The west gable end has a segmental-headed top-opening casement window on the ground floor, along with a small window or vent with a dressed stone surround near the apex of the gable. A similar window or vent is found on the opposite gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
