Description

Two cottages, dating from the late 17th century, are located on Gloucester Street in Cirencester. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a stone slate roof. The original chimney stacks have been rebuilt in brick, located at the left and right ends of the building. The front has three gables facing the street. The cottages are single-storey with an attic, and have a four-window front. On the ground floor, the left-hand cottage (number 100) has a 19th-century shop window with 12 panes, set beneath a timber lintel. The remaining three ground floor windows on the right-hand cottage (number 98) are timber casements with 2 and 3 lights, all set beneath exposed timber lintels. The window to the extreme right has leaded lights. The attic has similar 2- and 3-light casements in the gables. There are two doorways, both set beneath exposed timber lintels. The left-hand door (number 100) is a former shop door, half-glazed with four panes. The right-hand door (number 98) is a plank door. The interiors were not inspected.
