Description
The inner gateway to Old Campden House dates from the early 17th century and is likely part of the layout designed by Baptist Hicks for Campden House. It was repositioned to its current location after 1645. The structure is made of coursed and squared ashlar rubble, topped with weathered coping. It features a segmental arch with a keystone, resting on imposts. The spandrels on the north side display decorative motifs. Notably, hinge pins are located on the south side, which is unusual as they are typically found on the north side, suggesting that the gateway was reset with the spandrel decoration facing the Court House.
