Description
The Court House is an early 17th century building, likely built around the same time as Old Campden Manor. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a Cotswold stone roof, with continuous moulded bands at both the first and second floor levels. The structure is a rectangular range that backs onto the street and has three storeys with six windows, which include two, three, and four light stone mullioned casements. The central flat arched doorway is complemented by a blocked four-centred doorway to the left. The building has four ridge stacks, with the end stacks paired and set square, while the central stacks are taller, two of which have shafted designs set diagonally with moulded caps and decorative elements.
The east garden front exhibits alterations from the 18th and mid-19th centuries, featuring two 19th century bays—one with two storeys and the other with mullion and transom windows. There are also two first floor sashes with glazing bars and a large stone buttress. Additionally, there is a two-storey extension at the south end and 'arrow-slit' vents in the south gable. The Court House is likely a conversion of the Old Manor stables, which were destroyed during the Civil War in 1645 when they were set on fire to prevent them from falling into Parliament's hands.
