Description

The wall, raised pavement, and conduit in front of the Almshouses date from the early 17th century and are part of Sir Baptist Hick's layout, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The structure features a low 3-foot ashlar wall that fronts the Campden Almshouses, with angled capping and steps leading up at the south end. There is a five to six-foot buttressed retaining wall along the road. The central conduit head was formerly supplied by the Conduit House and includes a panel with a shell niche, a disused tap, and a circular cast-iron spigotted basin dated 1818. The area is paved with York stone.
