Description
The stable block at Daylesford House, built around 1800 with later additions from the late 19th to early 20th century, features coursed, squared, and dressed limestone with a slate roof. The building has an 'H'-shaped plan, including an open-fronted store from the late 19th to early 20th century, supported by cast iron pillars attached to the left wall of the right wing at the front. Designed in a Palladian style, the stable block has two-storey wings at the rear and is otherwise a single storey.
The central entrance features a round-headed arch with a flat-chamfered surround, above which is a 2-light casement and a triangular pediment that incorporates a clock. To one side of the central arch, there is a 3-bay partly blind arcade with lunette windows at the top of each arch. Blocked windows with triple keystones are located at either end of the arcade, with a single oculus above each (one of which is blocked). A band runs across the facade at the same height as the keystones. The wings on either side of the central arch have three double doors with lunette-shaped lights above them. The rear yard is paved with concrete, featuring impressions of horseshoes. The wings have hipped roofs, and the interior of the stables is tiled.
