Description

Two adjoining barns, likely dating from the mid to late 18th century on the east side and the early 19th century on the west side. These barns are constructed from coursed rubble stone with quoins marking the cart entries, and have stone slate roofs. Each barn features a central, projecting gabled cart entry on the south side, topped with a large timber lintel and flanked by slit vents.

The barn on the right (the older of the two) has five bays and incorporates collar and tie beam trusses with two trenched purlins. A timber lintel sits flush with the rear wall of the gabled cart entry. A cart entry at the opposite side has been blocked, and there’s a blocked pitch hole toward the east.

The barn to the left, with six bays, also has collar and tie beam trusses with two trenched purlins. The back wall of its gabled cart entry is defined by a cambered arch featuring a central brick section and a stone keystone. The opposing gabled cart entry has been blocked internally. A 20th-century lean-to, with a stone slate roof, extends across the north sides of both barns, with a particularly noticeable section in the west corner of the newer barn.
