Description
ICOMB ICOMB VILLAGE SP 22 SW 2/203 Barn opposite Icomb Lodge GV II Barn. Mid-late C18. Alternating courses of orange and cream coloured coursed squared and dressed limestone. Extension built of the same limestone but not in alternatiing courses. Concrete tile roof to the main body. Stone slate to the extension. Barn rectangular in plan with an extension to the right gable end. Double-width entrance with timber jambs, lintel and wooden brackets (to eaves height) on the west side. Lower double-width entrance opposite. C20 fixed casement to right with a timber lintel. Similar casement inserted within blocking of a single-width doorway to the extension. Ventilation slits with small diamond-shaped openings at the top of each in the side walls and gable end. Two high single-width doorways with timber lintels at the rear to the left of the double-width doorway. Extension; 1½ storeys with single-width doorway with timber lintel and small single-light window to the ground floor at rear. Pitching window with raking roof to the loft. Barn interior; 5 bays. Original collar and tie beam roof trusses with halved apexes. Double butt purlins. Loft inserted within the roof space of the two right-hand bays. Two timber uprights on stone bases support along the axis.
