Description
Corner Cottage is a cottage located at the end of a row in Icomb Village. It dates from the mid-17th century and has been altered and partially rebuilt in the 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared and dressed orange and cream-colored limestone, with dressed stone quoins. It features a concrete tile roof and a brick stack. The cottage has a rectangular plan and is 1½ storeys high.
At the rear, there are two 20th-century two-light dormers with metal casements. The gable end has a two-light garret window. The entrance front has two windows: to the right is a 3-light 19th-century metal casement set within a segmental-headed surround, and to the left is a three-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with a stopped hood. All windows include horizontal glazing bars. The entrance features a 19th-century four-panelled door within a moulded dressed stone surround, also with a stopped hood to the left. The building has an axial stack.
Inside, there is an open fireplace with a bressumer beam. Corner Cottage occupies a particularly prominent position at the center of the village on a corner.
