Description

The Old Post Office is a house located within a row in Icomb village, dating to the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone and sandstone, with a concrete tile roof and ashlar stacks. The house has a rectangular plan and is two storeys high with an attic, which is lit by a 20th-century two-light dormer window.

The front facade is symmetrical and features a two-window arrangement. It contains three-light wooden casement windows with timber lintels and horizontal glazing bars. A wide, early to mid-18th century door is centrally positioned; it was originally panelled with six fielded panels, though the upper two panels are now glazed, and has a timber lintel.

A stair projection extends to the rear right, displaying two single-light windows, one on each floor. The ground floor window has a hollow-chamfered stone surround, while the upper floor window has a flat-chamfered stone surround with leaded panes. There are gable-end stacks, one of which has been reduced to a stump and has a moulded capping. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
