Description
The main barn located to the west of Lodge Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building, likely dating from the 17th century, with walling that probably dates to the late 18th century. It features hammer-dressed stone with quoins and a stone slate roof. The barn has undergone some alterations, including an aisle in a continuous outshut to the east and a right outshut on the west side that spans 1½ bays. There is a square-headed cart entry to the left of this outshut. The barn consists of 3½ bays and includes 4 king-post trusses with struts, supported by jowelled posts that are braced in both directions. While the aisle-ties and aisle-posts are mainly intact, some posts are encased in the wall. The truss and posts in the northern part are encased in the gable wall. The wall plates, arcade plates, and 2 purlins are mostly intact, though not all are visible. At the south end, the roof timbers extend into the gable wall, creating a ½-bay. Several timbers have been replaced, and there are various alterations throughout the structure.
