Description
The main farm building to Thornhill Hall is a large structure dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with some parts buttressed, and features quoins and a stone slate roof with gable copings and finials. The building has an L-shaped plan and includes two large segmental-headed cart entrances, one of which is partially blocked, along with ventilation slits.
To the right, there is a domestic section that suggests living quarters, which is two storeys high. This section has two bays of three-light double chamfered windows, one of which has been enlarged, all under continuous hood moulds. The left side elevation includes an outshut with gable copings and cut kneelers, featuring several openings with massive lintels and a gabled central cart entry. The roof timber work is from the 19th century, and there is a 19th-century addition to the right that is in keeping with the original structure.
