Description

The Calder and Hebble Navigation Double Locks, located at the junction with the Dewsbury Cut, were constructed around 1769 and designed by engineer John Smeaton. The locks feature rough stone sides, which have undergone some repair work, and are topped with concrete copings. They are separated by an elliptical basin built in the same style. Each lock is equipped with wooden gates, although they now have recent steel box section push-bars.
