Description

Union Cottage is a detached house dated 1837, as indicated by a stone plaque bearing the initials 'T. R.'. It was likely built at the same time as The Union Workhouse (now Northleach Hospital), with the original occupant likely related to the workhouse. The house is constructed with coursed squared and dressed limestone, and has a concrete tile roof and ashlar stacks.

The main rectangular body of the house has a later lean-to extension at the rear. The symmetrical, two-storey, two-windowed facade features four-pane sash windows with plain architraves and rudimentary keystones. A central 20th-century fielded six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, is accessed via three steps. A flat-roofed canopy with a moulded margin is supported by two Doric stone columns. The rear has a catslide roof, and the gable ends have flat coping. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included within the listing for group value.
