Description

The barn adjoining Coberley Court is a structure that may contain parts dating back to the 17th century or earlier, but it appears to have been largely rebuilt during the 19th century, as indicated by the differing wall alignments and materials used. It features a slate roof. The older sections are constructed from random large blocks of squared and dressed stone, while the rebuilt sections are made from small coursed squared and dressed limestone. The barn has a rectangular plan with a projecting porch on the north side and a continuous lean-to extension on the south side that wraps around the right gable end.

On the north front, which faces the lane, there are two buttresses with offsets flanking a blocked doorway, along with two 2-light fixed casements. To the right of the right-hand buttress, there is another doorway, a 4-pane casement, and a row of three similar windows located below the eaves. The projecting porch features double plank doors and a 12-pane sash window above. The gable end is half-hipped.

Inside, the barn consists of nine bays supported by collar and tie beam trusses, several of which appear to be reused. It is likely that the entire roof structure was replaced during the 19th century. An engraving by Kip in Atkyn's History of Gloucestershire depicts a barn on the same alignment from around 1712.
