Description

Tye Cottage and Saw Pit Cottage are a pair of semi-detached houses located on the west side of Main Street in Willersey. Saw Pit Cottage dates back to the 16th century, while Tye Cottage was built in the 17th century. The facade of the cottages is positioned at right angles to Main Street and is constructed of coursed and squared limestone with a concrete tile roof. They feature an ashlar central stack with a moulded top and a brick gable end stack on the right.

The cottages are one storey with an attic, which is lit by two 20th-century gabled dormers that have two-light casements. Tye Cottage includes a three-light flat-chamfered stone mullioned window with leaded panes, an unpainted plank door with strap hinges to the left, and a single fire window to the left of that. Saw Pit Cottage has a six-panel unpainted door from the 20th century with glazed upper panels, a single light to the right, and a three-light stone ovolo mullioned window to the right.

These cottages are prominently visible from Main Street and are situated next to the picturesque center of the village.
